IMPORTANT TRAVEL INFORMATION

VISA

If you carry a United States or Canadian passport you will need a Tourist Visa to enter Brasil. Begin that process as soon as possible. For all other passports check online for visa requirements.

TICKET TO BRASIL

You will fly into Rio Branco (RBR in Acre, Brazil). For most people that will mean flying through Brasilia. Pay attention to the layover time in Brasilia. Twice I had to get a hotel room while on layover there.

TRAVEL INSURANCE

Will be good to purchase travel insurance to cover any unexpected delays, etc. as it is quite a journey. You can find a list of providers here.

HOTEL + RIO BRANCO

We will stay at the Hotel Palace Ignacio on December 7, 2017. This cost is included. We meet in the lobby of the Palace Hotel Lobby at 6am December 8, 2017 to depart for Tarauacá, The trip will be by car and you can expect an 8-10 hour journey, depending on road conditions. We return to Rio Branco the night of December 21st. This hotel cost is not included. There are many options in Rio Branco for those staying over night on the 21st. And for those leaving on a flight that night, you will not need a hotel, but could perhaps find a buddy to share their hotel for a few hours before your departure.

HOTEL + TARAUACÁ

Hotels in Tarauacá are very simple. We stay here December 8th, 9th, and 20th. This cost is included. This will be the last hot water shower for some days, so enjoy. We will spend the day on December 9, 2017 in Tarauacá buying final supplies. When I travelled I brought everything I needed except a blanket. The blanket I bought there. I quite like them. They are synthetic though, so if you are sensitive you might want to bring your own.

VACCINES

The CDC does not require vaccines to travel to Brasil from the United States, but does make recommendations: wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/traveler/none/brazil. This is an extremely personal decision and one that should be made with attention and care. If you would like to discuss privately please email Amber at ambervoilesyoga@gmail.com

MONEY

Best to exchange USD for Reias at your local bank. There is an ATM both in Rio Branco and in Tarauacá, but better to come prepared. You will need money to purchase bracelets, artifacts, and for any shopping you might want to do in the cities.

FOOD + WATER

Food and water in the jungle will be provided. Water will be bottled, as it is not advised to drink from the river. If you have special dietary needs please let Amber know as soon as possible.
